Liane Lippert (Movistar Team, Germany) won Veneto Women 2026 on 14 October, finishing alone on viale X Giugno in Vicenza, halfway up the Monte Berico climb, after 106.8 km from piazza Bra in Verona. Loes Adegeest (Lidl-Trek) was second, Elisa Longo Borghini (UAE Team L’Imad) third.

Eleonora Camilla Gasparrini, Longo Borghini’s teammate, was fourth: two Italians in the top four. UAE Team L’Imad put four riders in the top eight and still went home without the win. There were 104 starters.

Monte Berico decides it in a few metres

One climb, at the very end

From Verona the race headed towards San Martino Buon Albergo and then into the province of Vicenza. In Vicenza the riders did a single lap of the city circuit, with the line halfway up the climb. Monte Berico is a 0.83 km ramp with 75 m of climbing, averaging 9.3% and topping out at 11%.

In our preview this was the expected finale: one climb, and whoever wanted to win had to reach it at the front. The finishing order has the shape of an uphill finish. None of the top eight shares a time with another rider: they came in one by one, the first seven inside half a minute.

Seconds turn into metres

On that gradient riders climb at about 18-22 km/h. At that speed Lippert’s margin over Adegeest at the line is about 20-25 m of road. Longo Borghini was about 30-35 m back, Gasparrini about 35-45 m.

Riding the whole ramp at those speeds takes about 2’15”-2’45”. If the winner’s margin had all been made on the climb, it would be worth about 2.5-3% more power. On a gradient like that drafting counts for little: the gaps come from the legs.

Further back the metres pile up quickly. Noemi Rüegg (EF Education-Oatly), fifth, finished about 70-85 m down. Marlen Reusser, seventh, about 125-150 m.

Lippert wins in Italy again

Lippert is 28. In Italy she had already won Tre Valli Varesine in 2023 and three stages of the Giro d’Italia Women, one in 2024 and two in 2025. In 2023 she also won a stage of the Tour de France Femmes. She has been German road champion three times: 2018, 2022 and 2023.

In 2026 she had won the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana on 8 February; in August she was third overall at the Tour of Britain Women. Vicenza is her second win of the season.

Movistar Team has three riders in the top ten. Alongside Lippert are Reusser, seventh, and Alejandra Neira, ninth. Reusser was second in the first edition, in 2025.

Four teams share the top ten

UAE Team L’Imad started as the strongest team on paper. The result bears that out in depth: Longo Borghini third, Gasparrini fourth, Margarita García sixth, Karlijn Swinkels eighth.

The top ten places go to just four teams. Besides UAE and Movistar there is Lidl-Trek, with Adegeest and Ricarda Bauernfeind in tenth, and EF Education-Oatly with Rüegg. No Italian team makes the list.

Two names from the preview are missing: Silvia Persico, who won the first edition, and Gaia Realini of Lidl-Trek.

Longo Borghini and Gasparrini lead the Italians

Longo Borghini is 34 and on the Veneto Women podium for the first time: in 2025 she was fifth. Gasparrini is 24 and was third in 2025; this time she finishes fourth, one second behind her teammate. No other Italian finished in the top ten.

Five countries, born 1984 to 2008

The top ten comes from five countries, two riders each: Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland and Spain.

García, born in 1984, finished sixth. Neira, born in 2008, finished ninth, together with Bauernfeind. Their birth years are 24 years apart.
